Setting up conversions with Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a convenient method that allows you to install a code once on a website and use the platform by adding code snippets. There are ready-made templates, so you don't have to worry about setting something up from scratch.

Also, it is a simple task that anyone can do very easily. Just remember to set up triggers for your conversions and tell the URLs of key pages like your thank you page.

Step #1: Create your Google ads conversion action

  • Log into your Google Ads Account
  • Select Goals
  • Click on 'New Conversion Action'


  • Select website
  • and input your domain 
  • click on 'add conversion actions manually' using code
  • Select Goal and action optimization
  • Give a Conversion Name
  • Value "Use different Values for Each Conversion'
  • Count 'every'
  • Keep all defult 
  • click on 'DONE'
Then click on 'Agree and Continue' for next page 


  • Select Google Tag Manager 
  • and copy this conversion ID and conversion level code

Step #2: Setup your Google Tag Manager Tag

  • Login Google Tag Manager account
  • Create an account and container 
  • Select Tags and click NEW
  • select Tag Template 

  • Create 'Conversion Linker tag' for all page 
  • and then make Conversion Tracking Tag
  • follow these steps
  • Make appropriate Trigger for Purchase event: Thank you page/ Custom events
  • Publish GTM version 
  • and save Google ads conversion tag
